Elephant Music

This article isn't really about the music of thailands people. but instead it's about music played by Thailands elephants. So in away it's about a type of music from the country. Elephants that play the music are given" a variety of precussion and wind instruments", then their gievn a cue and they improvise for there. Some question though whether it's even music or not, but Bob Halliday music critic of the bankok post says" it is".

Even though the article isn't about Thai music. It's really cool how even animals are so attached to music. Some people believe that only humans and not even all humans can play instruments, but now ther's proof that even animals or at least elephants can play music too.

Two People, One Heart

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umYfkkncgBA
This is a song called "Song Kon Negun Jai" which means "Two People, One Heart", it's by a Thai band called Laolom. The video is about two friends that got separated from each other as kids. After growing they've walked past each other many times but, still have yet to meet. But the song along with the lyrics themselves are about two people who always have each other, no matter what,"If I get lost, I'm not afraid, I have us" is repeated various times through out the entire song.
This song is a great example of Thai modern music (even though it is a bit slow). But because of the music of the song, and the instruments its being played with, and specially it's beat it's good example.
It's also a good example of how, western and other types of music influences Thai music, because the music sounds very western.

This song is great I really enjoy listening to it, I believe the lyrics and the melody of the song are beautiful. The song really touches your heart, and the video is a really cute but sad story. But I like the video not only for the music, but also because it gives you a glimpse of Thailand, not the one everyone automatically imagines when they hear the name, but the real one.

Hick to Hip

Isan aka Northeast Thailand was always looked down upon. The region is known to be poor, and it's people strange and illiterate. Even their form of music was never appreciated by anyone else other than them. But then people migrated and some Isan people moved to Bangkok. Now all of a sudden the people who were always looked down upon their music is becoming popular through out the whole country.

The article talks about the music of Isan and how it affected the music of the rest of Thailand. It also mentions the Thai form of music , Luk Thung and how Isan music is really influential on Luk Thung. As well as where it all started and how Isan music became so popular all of a sudden.

Luk Thung " thai country music"

The country of Thailand like many other countries in the world has many types of music, from country to traditional to modern. One of the most popular type of thai music is luk thung also known as "thai country music". Luk Thung used to be a very popular form of music around the 1970's, but because of influences from Asian and European and Western pop music, it's popularity decreased. But now years later it's being combined with modern music such as hip hop, pop, rap, and many others, and is once again making it's way back to the top.

This article talks about the importance of Luk Thung music to Thai Culture. Aritcles I've read before only mentioned how much thai music has changed, and they were all about how pop is one of Thailand's most popular forms of music. But this article talks about one form of music in particular, Luk Thung, it goes into depth about it. It talks about it's history, it's influence, basically the life of Luk Thung form when it first started to now. It also mention's how Luk Thung now, has a great influence on most popular Thai music, even though some music artists fail realize it.
